Job Goal: To support teachers and staff in the assigned school in expanding their knowledge, skills and

understanding related to effective instruction and how students learn with a focus on the areas of reading, writing, speaking, listening and critical thinking resulting in improved demonstration of student learning.

Job Type: CertifiedJob Class Code: 2210Position Type: SalaryReports to: Principal and Level DirectorTerms of Employment: Compensation will be determined by the Superintendent based on 195 contract days and appropriate board-approved teacher salary schedule. This position requires a 7.5 hour work day. This position also comes with a $2500 stipend.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least five years successful experience in teaching
  • A master's degree or higher; a valid Kentucky Teaching Certificate
  • Demonstrated knowledge and teaching skills in all areas of literacy (reading, writing, speaking, listening and critical thinking)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in working with adult learners
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Coach building level staff members to enhance their ability in supporting students as they demonstrate a high level of accomplishment in the areas of literacy/language arts.
  • Work with the building Principal and Level Director to develop and implement activities supporting the enhancement of individual teaching skills.
  • Engage in professional development to enhance personal professional knowledge and skills.
  • Assist the principal in development of and implementation of: writing plan, thinking strategies, literacy initiatives, curriculum, assessment and instructional practices.
  • Assumes all other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning and Level Director.
