My AmeriCorps - Home Page Lake Area Free Clinic VISTA Year 2
The mission of the Wisconsin Association of Free & Charitable Clinics (WAFCC) is to support, strengthen, and advocate for Wisconsin's free and charitable clinics, the patients they serve, and the communities with whom they partner. This VISTA project will be based at Lake Area Free Clinic, a free clinic committed to providing high-quality, compassionate medical care to uninsured and underinsured individuals in its service area. Lake Area Free Clinic relies on a combination of volunteer providers, student volunteers, and limited staff to meet increasing community health needs. To ensure the clinic's long-term sustainability and ability to respond to growing demand, there is a need for strengthened organizational systems, updated policies and procedures, improved data collection and analysis, and enhanced volunteer coordination and care programming. The goal of this project is to build the organizational capacity of Lake Area Free Clinic by improving internal infrastructure, strengthening volunteer and program management systems, and enhancing data-informed approaches to patient care. These efforts will increase access to quality health services for low-income and uninsured populations while positioning the clinic for long-term effectiveness and sustainability.
