Description

Lancaster Farming is looking for an Experienced Agriculture Journalist to join our team! Lancaster Farming, a leading ag policy and lifestyle media company with more than 100,000 weekly readers, is hiring an experienced journalist. Farming touches every facet of life, and we cover it at the local, regional and national and levels. Background in or interest in agriculture is helpful, but solid reporting experience is a must. You will collaborate with editorial colleagues to create content for Lancaster Farming's multiple print and digital products.

Journalist Essential Job Functions (Full Description):

  • Research and write multiple engaging articles each week.
  • Cover ag-related events with expectation of quick turnaround for publication.
  • Hand in clean, fact-checked copy.
  • Assist with editing and proofreading with attention to detail.
  • Identify and explore trends in agriculture and rural life.
  • Develop reliable resources for interviews, quotes and background.
  • Work both independently and with a team.
  • Be a positive force in our newsroom.

Requirements

  • Journalism degree and/or significant newsroom experience, including use of AP style.
  • Agricultural background or sincere interest in learning about agriculture.
  • Photography and video experience or willingness to learn.
  • Familiarity with publishing software or willingness to learn.
  • Familiarity with digital news platforms or willingness to learn.
