Alexandria, United States | Posted on 05/13/2026We're seeking a Land Development Project Engineer with strong experience supporting commercial and residential site development projects. This role will focus on site layout, utility design, roadway design, erosion and sediment control, pavement design, and hydrologic analysis. The right person will bring solid technical design skills, strong Civil 3D experience, and the ability to support projects from early planning through final design and permitting.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and support civil engineering designs for commercial and residential land development projectsDevelop site layout plans including grading, drainage, utility, roadway, and pavement designProduce engineering plans and construction documents using Civil 3DDesign utility systems including water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage infrastructureSupport roadway and access design for private and public site development projectsPrepare erosion and sediment control plans in accordance with local and state requirementsPerform hydrologic and drainage calculations to support site development and storm water managementCoordinate project designs with internal teams, municipalities, utility authorities, and outside consultantsAssist with permitting, agency reviews, and responses to plan commentsReview project requirements, zoning constraints, and site conditions to develop practical design solutionsSupport project scheduling, coordination, and technical deliverables across multiple active assignmentsWork closely with project managers and senior engineers to keep projects on track and technically soundRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related disciplineExperience in land development engineeringExperience supporting commercial and residential development projectsStrong background in site layout, utility design, and roadway designExperience with erosion and sediment control plan developmentExperience with pavement design and hydrologic analysisAbility to prepare and review engineering drawings, calculations, and construction documentsStrong understanding of grading, drainage, storm water, and site development principlesStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple project tasks in a deadline-driven environmentPreferred QualificationsEIT or PEExperience with local permitting and entitlement processesExperience coordinating with municipalities, utility providers, and regulatory agenciesStrong understanding of site development design standards and construction practicesDesign Hire is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity /Affirmative Action employer.
