Job Title: Land Survey Crew Chief

About the Position: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Land Survey Crew Chief to join our team. This role requires expertise in conducting various types of land surveys, including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, and easement documentation. The ideal candidate will also possess advanced knowledge of 3D scanning and FAA drone operations, with a Part 107 drone license. The Land Survey Crew Chief will lead field survey teams, ensuring data accuracy, safety, and efficiency for a variety of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Field Operations Management: Lead survey crews in fieldwork, overseeing all aspects of boundary, topographic, ALTA, and easement surveys, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal standards.
  • Survey Types: Perform and manage boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, and easement surveys with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • 3D Scanning and Modeling: Conduct 3D scanning for enhanced data collection and integrate scans into survey deliverables. Process and analyze 3D data for detailed project insights.
  • Drone Operations: Operate FAA-licensed drones for aerial surveys and data collection, capturing aerial imagery and topographic data to enhance project scope and accuracy.
  • Data Collection and Processing: Use survey equipment (e.g., total stations, GPS, data collectors) to gather field data. Perform data processing, mapping, and drafting with proficiency in CAD and survey software.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Produce accurate field notes, reports, and survey documentation. Communicate findings and progress updates to project managers, engineers, and clients.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Safety: Maintain survey equipment, including drones and scanning devices, ensuring they are in good working condition. Promote and enforce safety standards on-site.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of [5+] years of experience in land surveying, with proven skills in boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, and easements.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Valid FAA Part 107 drone license required; Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license preferred but not required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in survey equipment and software, including GPS, total stations, CAD software, and data collectors. Experience with 3D scanning technology and processing software is essential.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership abilities with experience managing and mentoring survey crews, providing direction, training, and motivation.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting, documentation, and client interactions.
  • Physical Requirements: Able to work in outdoor environments and on project sites as needed.
