Land Survey Crew Chief - Engineering - Base Salary to 110k/year - Rochester, NY

• Our client is an established multi-disciplinary architecture and engineering firm supporting civil engineering, site development, infrastructure, and land surveying projects. The organization provides professional surveying services including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and control surveys for commercial, infrastructure, and land development projects.
• The Land Survey Crew Chief is a primarily field-based position, with approximately 70–90% of the role spent at project sites throughout the region. This position leads day-to-day field survey operations, directs survey crew members, operates total station and GNSS/GPS equipment, and collects accurate field data used by surveying and engineering teams for design and construction projects.

Responsibilities:

• Perform boundary surveys, topographic surveys, control surveys, and field data collection across multiple project sites
• Lead daily field survey operations and direct Instrument Operators and other survey crew members
• Operate total stations and GNSS/GPS surveying equipment to collect field measurements and survey data
• Conduct field quality control and verification of survey measurements and collected data
• Perform field reconnaissance to locate property corners, monuments, boundary markers, control points, and site features
• Maintain field notes, survey records, and other field documentation
• Coordinate survey data transfer and project information with office-based surveying and engineering staff
• Follow applicable job site and field safety requirements
• Travel to project sites as needed, with approximately 70–90% of the position performed in the field

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of hands-on land surveying experience in a field-based role
• Experience performing boundary surveys and/or topographic surveys
• Experience independently operating total stations and GNSS/GPS surveying equipment
• Experience leading or directing field survey crews or survey crew members

Compensation:

• Base salary in the 82k - 110k/year range
