How You’ll Contribute:
- Assist in field operations within a variety of tasks including heavy equipment operation (such as skid steers, tractors, and forestry mulchers), hand work (chainsaw use, brush clearing, herbicide application), and maintenance of tools and machinery.
- Support wildlife management through activities such as deer harvests, feral hog management, and wildlife population surveys. Responsible firearm use and adherence to licensing requirements are essential.
- Participate in prescribed burn operations, including preparation, execution, and coordination with local fire authorities.
- Provide land & habitat management by contributing to brush control, native vegetation restoration, invasive species reduction, and fuel break maintenance. Apply basic biological principles and rangeland ecology knowledge to support land and wildlife management objectives.
- Perform field data collection by utilizing GPS and mapping technology to collect and record field data, assess outcomes, and prepare reports.
- Participate in community engagement through regional field days and workshops, sharing practical insights and experiences.
How You’re Qualified:
- Four or more years of experience in natural resource management or other relevant experience. A degree(s) in agriculture, natural resource management, range management, wildlife management or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
- Driver's license
- For incumbents who volunteer to participate in prescribed burning activities: NWCG Single Resource Boss Qualification or higher
- Class A Texas commercial driver's license or equivalent from another state, for incumbents performing heavy equipment operation
- Active Texas handgun license and active Texas Parks and Wildlife (TPWD) hunting license required for duties relating to wildlife management with a firearm
