SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Landfill Spotter is responsible for ensuring proper placement and sorting of materials and guiding customers safely in the landfill.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:* Inspect materials and sort items or materials into piles prepping for the Equipment Operator.* Direct Customers where to safely dump their debris at the landfill.* Pull metal and lead items from piles being disposed.* Monitor piles to ensure they are the appropriate size.* Remove items that can be recycled and are not acceptable for disposal at the landfill.* Follow appropriate standard operating procedures (SOPs) as guideline for operating and maintaining equipment.* Report any worker-public safety factors.* Attend weekly/monthly safety/operations meetings.OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: * Employees in this job classification must attend and participate in corporation sponsored training courses as assigned. * Employees in this job classification are responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by Waste Pro.* Any additional job duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor.QUALIFICATIONS:* Ability to follow safe operating practices.* Ability to learn and use interpersonal skills relating to good customer service* Ability and willingness to work in a team environment* Ability to read, write and comprehend reports well enough to complete daily assignments.Special Considerations/Physical Work Requirements:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.* Push, pull, drag, and lift items up to 50 pounds, climbing steps, and overhead reaching.* Walking, Jogging, Twisting, Crouching, Lifting* Sufficient stamina for steady work pace throughout the day* Ability to utilize all Personal Protective Equipment as mandated by company.WORK ENVIRONMENT: Works in a variety of environment conditions, including wide temperature and extreme weather variations, wind; noise and vibrations, fumes, odors and dust.
