Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Landman is responsible for all assigned onshore and offshore land and commercial activities within the framework of Talos Energy's policies and procedures and in compliance with applicable regulations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Landman duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Administer contracts and leases to ensure timely compliance with all rights and obligations
Fast and accurate research on specific questions for a wide range of oil and gas agreements, including leases, surface use agreements, participation agreements, farmouts/farmins, operating agreements, production handling agreements, and confidentiality agreements
Collaborate with Exploration, Development, and Operations stakeholders to optimize development and asset retirement obligations of existing assets
Participate actively on asset teams to support opportunity identification and execution within assigned geographic regions
Build and maintain strong external relationships to gather market intelligence and generate new opportunities
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
1-3 years of oil and gas land and commercial experience (internships included). Offshore a plus.
Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Land Management, Energy Commerce, or a closely related field required.
Demonstrated aptitude to apply a set of rules to a fact set (such as lease obligations or regulations and field rules to an oil and gas property).
Experience administering oil and gas leases, including lessor royalties and rentals, AFEs, surface use agreements, and other contracts. Experience acquiring leases a plus.
Mineral and surface owner relationship management, including administering surface use agreements and interfacing with division order analysts and accounting internally
Familiarity with site clearance, abandonment, restoration, and associated financial assurance
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Aptitude to learn, accept coaching, and expand responsibilities beyond a comfort zone.
Skilled and determined researcher. Detail oriented, keeping an actionable outcome in mind.
Conversant in the concepts and terminology across the oil and gas asset lifecycle
Excellent communication and teamwork skills as the job requires that he/she integrate with a high performing team of geoscientists, engineers, attorneys, finance/accounting/tax/treasury/risk, regulatory and government affairs specialists
Familiarity with and ability to utilize land management software, Sonris, or BLM/MMA databases a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, Teams, SharePoint and data manipulation
Able to organize and prioritize a diverse and heavy workload
Creates strong work relationships with internal staff
Demonstrates ability to self-start and balance multiple competing projects simultaneously and reach closure within the established time frame
Strong interpersonal, communication and technical skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team-based environment
Recognizes personal strengths and weaknesses and is proactive in self-development
Has a strong sense of integrity and the ability to deal effectively with ethical situations
Willing to work a demanding and flexible schedule
CERTIFICATES & LICENSES:
There are no certificates, licenses or registrations required for this position.
Registered Landman and other affiliations with AAPL a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time and have use of arms and hands in repetitive motion. A fair amount of standing and walking is also required for the position.
