Landscape Construction Foreman

Position Summary

The Landscape Construction Foreman is responsible for leading landscape construction crews and managing daily jobsite operations to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with design specifications. This role works closely with Project Managers and field leadership to maintain quality standards, control production, and deliver projects on time and within budget.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage daily landscape construction operations across assigned job sites
  • Supervise and coordinate crew members, assistant foremen, and laborers to ensure productivity and quality
  • Review and interpret blueprints, grading plans, irrigation plans, planting plans, and project specifications
  • Establish grades and elevations using laser levels, zip levels, and other layout tools
  • Plan daily work activities and assign tasks based on project scope and timelines
  • Monitor project progress and adjust workflow to maintain schedule and budget targets
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project expectations
  • Provide professional communication and basic updates to clients when required
  • Oversee installation of hardscapes, planting, irrigation systems, grading, and site preparation
  • Ensure all materials, tools, and equipment are available and properly utilized on job sites
  • Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites at all times
  • Train, mentor, and develop crew members on installation techniques, safety standards, and company expectations
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies
  • Conduct or support safety meetings and proactively identify and mitigate jobsite hazards
  • Monitor equipment condition and ensure proper operation, maintenance, and inspections are completed
  • Track labor hours, manage timekeeping in company systems, and ensure accurate reporting
  • Manage project timelines and labor utilization to meet or improve budgeted hours
  • Communicate schedule changes, issues, and project updates to management in a timely manner
  • Submit receipts, track purchases, and maintain accurate job cost documentation
  • Support snow operations during winter season, including equipment operation and on-call availability

Qualifications

  • 3–6 years of landscape construction or related field experience
  • Previous experience leading crews or supervising job sites required
  • Strong knowledge of landscape construction methods, materials, and equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, layouts, and construction documents
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced field environment
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 certification or higher
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Experience operating skid steers, trenchers, tampers, and other landscape construction equipment
  • Strong knowledge of pavers, grading, irrigation systems, planting, and stonework

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physical labor for extended periods
  • Ability to operate equipment and work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Work Environment

This role is primarily field-based and performed outdoors on active construction job sites. Work schedules may vary based on project demands, including early mornings, extended hours, weekends, and seasonal snow operations.


Compensation

$30.00 – $36.00 per hour

Additional Information

This is a non-exempt position and is eligible for overtime.

This role requires operation of company vehicles and equipment and regular travel between job sites.
