Position Summary
The Client is seeking a reliable and motivated Landscape Installation Laborer to assist with residential and commercial landscape installation projects throughout the Modesto area. This is an entry-level position designed for individuals interested in learning the landscape construction industry while supporting an experienced installation crew.
The Landscape Installation Laborer works under the direction of the Crew Leader and Installation Team and is responsible for performing physical labor, preparing jobsites, handling materials, and assisting with landscape installations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Jobsite Preparation
- Load and unload trucks and trailers
- Gather and organize tools and materials
- Prepare jobsites before work begins
- Assist with demolition of existing landscapes
- Remove sod, plants, concrete, rock, and debris
- Perform digging, trenching, and grading
Landscape Installation
Assist with the installation of:
- Plants
- Trees
- Shrubs
- Groundcover
- Mulch
- Decorative rock
- Soil amendments
- Drip irrigation tubing
- Irrigation pipe (under supervision)
- Landscape edging
- Basic hardscape projects
Material Handling
- Transport materials throughout the jobsite
- Keep worksites clean, organized, and safe
- Stack and secure materials properly
- Assist with material deliveries
- Help maintain tool and equipment inventory
Equipment Operation
Safely operate (training provided as needed):
- Wheelbarrows
- Shovels
- Picks
- Rakes
- Hand tools
- Plate compactors
- Cut-off saws
- Small power equipment
General Labor
- Follow instructions from the Crew Leader
- Maintain a safe work environment
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Assist team members as needed
- Perform additional duties assigned
Qualifications
Preferred, but not required:
- Previous landscape or construction experience
- Valid California Driver License
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds repeatedly
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Reliable transportation
- Willingness to learn new skills and grow within the company
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift and carry up to 75 pounds
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Kneel, squat, bend, and shovel throughout the workday
- Perform repetitive physical tasks
- Work outdoors in hot and changing weather conditions
