Summary:

The Roll-Off Truck Driver is a vital team member responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of containers to designated disposal sites, including landfills, transfer facilities, and customer job sites. This role involves navigating various environments such as driveways, alleyways, job sites, and traffic-filled roadways.

  • Operate the roll-off vehicle in compliance with Bemus Landscape, INC. Company Safety Rules, Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and all local, state, and federal laws.
  • Safely transport containers to and from specified destinations, ensuring the secure loading and unloading of containers.
  • Perform required labor tasks related to container handling and transportation.
  • Keep the roll-off truck clean inside and out, reporting any maintenance issues or damage to the dispatch promptly.
  • Report any unsafe situations, service-related issues, incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage to dispatch immediately.
  • Adhere to traffic laws and established transportation procedures while navigating diverse environments, including private driveways, industrial sites, and city environments.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, reporting service problems, blocked containers, potential safety hazards, and any customer requests.
  • Complete and submit accurate work orders and driver logs as required, keeping mileage records up to date.
  • Attend and actively participate in all training and safety programs to enhance skills and maintain a commitment to safety.
  • Understand and meet customer needs by following assigned routes and behaving courteously and professionally at all times.
  • Exercise good judgment in determining if a loaded container exceeds maximum tonnage and promptly report such instances to the dispatcher for guidance.
  • Read maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions to ensure efficient and timely delivery of containers.
  • Work productively and safely in various environments, including tight spaces and heavy industrial areas.
  • Report any moving violations incurred during work hours to the supervisor at the end of the shift.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to contribute to the overall success of the team.
  • Hold a current Class A Commercial Driver's License.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Possess an acceptable driving record.
  • Willingness to undergo random DOT drug tests.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to perform daily safety inspections and meet routine requirements.
  • Complete a pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and background check, including a review of previous employment and motor vehicle records.
