SUMMARY: This position is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of workers engaged in landscaping or ground maintenance activities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Directs activities of workers who perform duties such as mowing turf, mulching, weed, trash removal, tree/shrub installation and pruning.
  • Monitors project activities to ensure that instructions are followed, deadlines are met, and schedules are maintained.
  • Manages inventory of tools, equipment, or materials to ensure that sufficient supplies are available.
  • Ensures all equipment is maintained and in usable condition.
  • Trains, motivates, develops, and directs team as they work.
  • Evaluates each team member to provide career development feedback.
  • Monitors/assesses performance of others and/or organization to make improvements or takes corrective action.
  • Transports crew members to different job sites in assigned vehicles.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certificates, licenses and registrations required:
    1. Valid State of Illinois drivers' license.
  • Other skills required:
    1. 3 years' experience in Landscaping. (preferred)
    2. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    3. Monitoring of team members to ensure work quality.
    4. Ability to maintain composure in difficult and complex situations.
    5. Manage one's own time and the time of others.
    6. Observe safety and security procedures.
    7. Use equipment and materials properly (i.e., lawn mowers, cutting tools, chain saw).
    8. Saturday work hours may be required.
