Utilities Specialist
Company Overview
Peak Environmental has been a trusted leader in complex residential and commercial outdoor living and landscape development projects in Saratoga County for nearly 30 years. Our work ranges from high-end residential properties to large commercial environments, all designed and built with a focus on craftsmanship, quality, and long-term performance.
We are a team that values accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning. When you join Peak Environmental, you help create outdoor spaces that clients enjoy for years to come.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Utilities Specialist who is passionate about working outdoors and takes pride in hands-on craftsmanship. In this role, you will lead the installation, programming, and service of irrigation, low-voltage lighting, and outdoor audio systems that bring our landscapes to life.
This is a field-based leadership role where you will both guide a crew and work alongside them. You will play a key part in delivering high-visibility projects, solving technical challenges on site, and making sure every installation meets our standards, project specifications, and local codes.
What You'll Do
- Lead and actively participate in the installation, programming, and servicing of residential and commercial irrigation systems from layout through final adjustment.
- Install, troubleshoot, and fine-tune low-voltage landscape lighting and outdoor audio systems to achieve design intent, performance requirements, and client expectations.
- Verify that all utilities work complies with project plans, manufacturer requirements, safety protocols, and local codes, addressing issues promptly in the field.
- Collaborate with project managers, sales teams, and clients to clarify scope, resolve technical questions, and deliver a professional, customer-focused experience.
- Maintain accurate job records, work orders, and service reports while training and mentoring crew members to improve skill levels, safety habits, and jobsite efficiency.
What Success Looks Like
- Within the first 3–6 months, you independently lead utilities installations from layout to final programming, consistently delivering projects on time and to specification.
- Clients, project managers, and sales teams regularly rely on you to diagnose and resolve irrigation, lighting, and audio issues quickly, safely, and professionally.
- Your crews work efficiently and safely, with organized jobsites, well-maintained tools and equipment, and minimal rework.
- Documentation, work orders, and service reports are accurate, complete, and submitted on time, supporting smooth project closeouts and future service work.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in landscape construction with a focus on irrigation and lighting systems.
- Hands-on proficiency installing and programming major irrigation systems such as Rain Bird or Hunter, plus experience with low-voltage lighting and outdoor audio (for example, Alliance, FX Luminaire).
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and technical drawings, with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and projects in the field.
- Clear communication and customer service skills, along with a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive pay based on experience.
- Health, dental, and vision insurance.
- Paid time off and holidays.
- Opportunities for training and career growth in a positive, supportive team culture.
