Laptop Asset Scanning & Packaging Technician
Location: Bentonville, AR
Project Duration: Ongoing Project
Schedule: Recurring Project (Approximately Every Other Week)
Typical Volume: 300–500 Laptops Per Project Cycle
Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Laptop Asset Scanning & Packaging Technician to support an ongoing IT asset processing project in Bentonville, Arkansas. This role will be responsible for scanning, validating, documenting, and preparing laptop assets for secure shipment.
The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, experience working with inventory systems, and the ability to safely handle, organize, and package large volumes of technology equipment. This position requires consistency, accuracy, and the ability to become familiar with the customer's laptop environment, asset tracking portal, and software workflow to properly document project progress.
The preference is for the same technician or team of technicians to support each recurring project cycle to maintain consistency, process familiarity, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
Laptop Asset Scanning & Documentation
- Perform onsite scanning and inventory validation of laptops and related IT equipment.
- Capture and verify asset information, including serial numbers, asset tags, model information, and other required inventory details.
- Utilize customer-provided asset management portals and software platforms to accurately document scanned equipment.
- Become familiar with customer-specific scanning procedures, workflows, and reporting requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of completed assets and provide progress updates throughout each project cycle.
- Identify discrepancies, missing information, damaged equipment, or inventory exceptions and escalate appropriately.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy while processing 300–500 laptops per project cycle.
Laptop Preparation & Packaging
- Prepare scanned laptops for shipment according to established customer guidelines and procedures.
- Properly organize and stage laptops for transportation.
- Package laptops securely using approved packing methods and materials.
- Load laptops into Gaylord containers using proper protective padding and spacing techniques to prevent damage during transportation.
- Ensure equipment is properly positioned, protected, and secured within large shipping containers.
- Apply shrink wrap, pallet wrap, and other packaging materials as required.
- Assist with pallet preparation and shipment readiness.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the project.
Logistics & Shipping Support
- Support preparation of equipment for scheduled outbound transportation.
- Follow documented packing, labeling, and handling procedures.
- Coordinate with onsite project contacts regarding completed inventory and shipment readiness.
- Assist with loading preparation when required.
- Ensure all assets remain properly accounted for throughout the scanning and shipping process.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in IT asset management, inventory control, warehouse operations, logistics, or technology deployments preferred.
- Experience using barcode scanners, inventory systems, or asset tracking software.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to process large quantities of equipment accurately.
- Basic computer skills with the ability to learn new software platforms and customer portals.
- Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain consistent documentation.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage repetitive processes efficiently.
- Reliable attendance and willingness to support recurring project schedules.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience handling laptops, desktops, or other IT hardware.
- Experience with IT asset disposition (ITAD), hardware refreshes, or technology rollouts.
- Familiarity with inventory reconciliation and asset tracking processes.
- Previous packing, palletizing, or warehouse shipping experience.
- Experience using shrink wrap, pallet wrap, and other shipping preparation materials.
- Experience safely handling electronic equipment for transportation.
