Lathe Machinist

POSITION SNAPSHOT: Our client is seeking a Level II Lathe Machinist that supports the manufacture of high-precision components for highly regulated industries, including aerospace, defense, and advanced commercial applications. The role involves operating, maintaining, and assisting with setup of various machining equipment, including lathes, mills, and CNC machinery, to produce parts that meet exact engineering specifications and tight tolerances. Responsibilities include interpreting technical drawings and work instructions, monitoring production metrics, documenting manufacturing data, performing in-process inspections, and ensuring compliance with quality management standards and established manufacturing procedures.

The ideal candidate will possess hands-on machining experience and a solid understanding of manufacturing and quality processes. Required technical knowledge includes blueprint reading, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), tooling and fixturing, machine setup principles, precision machining practices, and the operation of inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators, and gauge pins. Candidates should also have exposure to CNC machining environments, experience following detailed production documentation, and familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma. Strong computer skills, attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and effective communication and teamwork skills are also important.

The position requires a strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity in a manufacturing environment. Applicants must be able to adapt to changing priorities, maintain accurate production records, support quality standards, and contribute to a clean and organized workplace. U.S. person status is required due to export control regulations. The role involves working around manufacturing equipment while using required personal protective equipment, standing and walking for extended periods, performing occasional lifting, and working safely in confined spaces when necessary.

Projected Pay Range is: $28.00 to $33.00 per hour depending on experience.
