JOB SUMMARY

The Laundry and Public Space Attendant supports the housekeeping team by operating the Club's laundry operation and maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of public spaces and common areas throughout the Club. This individual processes linens, towels, and uniforms; keeps lobbies, hallways, restrooms, and meeting spaces to the highest standard of cleanliness; and stocks housekeeping carts each shift so the team is fully prepared for the next day. This role must be detail-oriented, reliable, and take pride in their work, embodying the Club's shared spirit of “Serve Those Who Serve” in every task.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES

•          Represent the Army and Navy Club as a professional “goodwill ambassador” at all times, embodying the Club's shared spirit of “Serve Those Who Serve”

•          Operate commercial washers, dryers, and extractors to sort, wash, dry, fold, and iron linens, towels, and uniforms in accordance with Club standards

•          Inspect linens and terry for damage, staining, or wear, and pull items requiring repair or replacement

•          Maintain adequate par levels of clean linens and distribute them to housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and banquet departments as needed

•          Stock housekeeping carts and closets with clean linens, amenities, and cleaning supplies at the end of each shift to prepare the team for the next day

•          Clean and maintain public spaces, lobbies, hallways, restrooms, elevators, stairwells, and meeting rooms throughout the Club

•          Empty trash and recycling, and dispose of waste in accordance with Club procedures

•          Report maintenance issues, damages, or safety hazards to a supervisor immediately

•          Report lost and found items to a supervisor in accordance with Club policy

•          Operate laundry and cleaning equipment, including washers, dryers, vacuums, carts, and floor care machines, safely and properly

•          Handle and store cleaning chemicals and laundry supplies safely, following all labeling and safety guidelines

•          Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the laundry room and linen storage areas

•          Respond promptly and courteously to Member and Guest requests for housekeeping or laundry services

•          Maintain the confidentiality and security of Member and Guest spaces and belongings at all times

•          Attend all training sessions related to laundry operations, safety, and service standards

•          Adhere to all inventory control procedures for linens, supplies, and equipment

•          Maintain regular and reliable attendance for scheduled full-time shifts; position will require nights, weekends, and holidays. Notify supervisor of scheduling requests at least one week in advance

•          Perform other duties as assigned; responsibilities may evolve based on operational needs

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

•          Prior laundry, housekeeping, hospitality, or custodial experience preferred, but not required; on-the-job training provided

•          High school diploma or GED preferred; must be able to read, write, and speak English clearly enough to communicate with the team and follow instructions

•          Basic familiarity with laundry and cleaning equipment, products, and procedures, or willingness to learn, required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

•          Ability to work independently and efficiently while maintaining high standards of cleanliness

•          Strong attention to detail and pride in the quality and consistency of work

•          Ability to manage time effectively to complete laundry processing and assigned areas within scheduled timeframes

•          Strong teamwork and communication skills; ability to work closely with the housekeeping team and other departments

•          Trustworthy and discreet when working in Member and Guest spaces

•          Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Certifications & Compliance

•          CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications preferred, or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire

•          Willingness to follow OSHA guidelines for chemical handling and bloodborne pathogen exposure control

•          Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods throughout an entire shift; position requires constant standing and walking

•          Regularly required to bend, kneel, and reach with hands and arms, including reaching overhead and into low or confined spaces

•          Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and manipulate laundry and cleaning equipment and supplies with full range of motion

•          Regularly required to push and pull laundry carts, housekeeping carts, and other equipment

•          Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 30 lbs., including loaded linen bags

•          Must be able to climb stairs and move safely between floors and rooms throughout the shift

•          Regularly exposed to heat, humidity, and noise from laundry equipment

•          Requires color vision, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
