Laundry Attendant / Housekeeper 

We are looking for a year-round position for a Laundry Attendant / Housekeeper. This is a part-time position with shifts scheduled in Laundry or Housekeeping depending on the capacity of the hotel. 

Location:250 Main Hotel (Rockland, Maine)

Hours: Shift in-season generally 9 am – 3pm. Off-season hours vary.  Must be available to work Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Pay Rate:$18 per hour.

Laundry Attendant / Housekeeper Job Summary

Responsible for the laundering of all Hotel linens including sorting, treating stains, operating washer, dryers, and linen press, folding, stocking closets, daily checks of lint traps and equipment, observing safety rules and maintaining a clean work area. 

Working alone or with a partner, each Housekeeper is responsible for the cleanliness of guest rooms, hallways, activity areas, and public spaces on the property. Responsibilities include servicing rooms according to property procedures, stocking housekeeping closets, removing soiled items, replacing bed linens, and stocking guest room amenities. 

This position requires strong attention to detail and the ability to work harmoniously as a group and alone without constant direct supervision. 

Laundry Attendant / Housekeeper Job Functions

*Clean and maintain guest rooms and public spaces. Including, but not limited to cleaning, bathrooms and rooms, changing linens, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, making beds.

*Restock rooms with towels, robes, glassware, soap, and housekeeping closets.

*Wash dirty dishes collected from rooms and restock.

*Pre-treat stains, sort, and wash and dry multiple loads of laundry.

*Use linen press, fold all laundry, and stock laundry room and housekeeping closets with clean linens.

*Sweep, mop and maintain an organized laundry room.

*Follow safety procedures including wearing rubber gloves when handling soiled laundry.

*Clean lint trap daily and maintain equipment.

*Responsible for the security of any room or employee keys, as well as respecting the personal property and the privacy of guests.

*Able to answer basic questions from guests in a friendly and professional manner (such as how to work the T.V., shower, HVAC).

*Work with a variety of cleaning chemicals, follow directions and use of all chemicals in accordance with OSHA and State of Maine regulations.

Skills/Requirements:

*Must be eligible to work in the United States of America and be at least 18 years old.

*Wear uniform and maintain a neat and professional appearance.

*Communicate and convey information clearly in English, both orally and written.

*Able to meet deadlines and multitask in busy times.

*Must be service orientated with exceptional hospitality standards.

*Able to work efficiently and with purpose.

*Have a high standard of cleanliness, attention to detail and a strong work ethic. 

*Be a team player and be able to work alone without being directed.

*Able to take initiative to accomplish daily tasks.

*Able to take and follow directions.

*Follow all safety protocols on using and handling chemicals and soiled items.

*Follow all physical safety procedures to avoid injury.

*Able to lift, carry and handle up to 50 pounds.

*Physical abilities required, but not limited to eye-hand coordination, repetitive reaching, crouching, bending, standing, lifting, stooping, kneeling.

*Ability to push cleaning and laundry carts.

*Frequent stair climbing.

*Frequent hand washing.
