Duties

Help

  • Operates commercial laundry machines to walk bulk laundry. Loads and unloads items into and out of washing machines and dryers.
  • Ensures proper sort, loading capacity, cleaning solvents and correct settings for operation of machinery. Folds and stacks finished items.
  • Cleans rooms, corridors, stairways and other areas. Sweeps, mops, vacuums, scrubs, strips and polishes using light and heavy duty powered equipment.
  • Operates industrial equipment to clean rugs, drapes, etc.

  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Must be willing and able to work evenings, weekends, and Special MWR events.
  • This position may require a health screening due to the position requirements of lifting up to 50 lbs, walking on hard surfaces, some bending, carrying, pushing and pulling of items or carts.
  • Immunizations may be required as a condition of employment for the health and safety of those in the facility.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

  • Ability to perform the work of the position without more than normal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain tools and equipment.
  • Ability to keep areas neat and clean and in order.

In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified":

  • 1 or more years of experience operating commercial laundry equipment.
  • 1 or more years of work experience in ARMY lodging.

Applicant meeting the Best Qualifying Criteria/Highly Preferred will be referred to the hiring manager. All other qualified applicants will be referred if requested by the hiring manager.

Allowances and Differentials

  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week - whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
  • Foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), incentives and differentials will not be paid, with the exception of post allowance, contingent upon eligibility.

The operational Army consists of numbered armies, corps, divisions, brigades, and battalions that conduct full spectrum operations around the world. The institutional Army supports the operational Army. Institutional organizations provide the infrastructure necessary to raise, train, equip, deploy, and ensure the readiness of all Army forces. The training base provides military skills and professional education to every Soldier—as well as members of sister services and allied forces. It also allows the Army to expand rapidly in time of war. The industrial base provides world-class equipment and logistics for the Army. Army installations provide the power-projection platforms required to deploy land forces promptly to support combatant commanders. Once those forces are deployed, the institutional Army provides the logistics needed to support them.

Without the institutional Army, the operational Army cannot function. Without the operational Army, the institutional Army has no purpose.

To deploy, fight and win our nation’s wars by providing ready, prompt and sustained land dominance by Army forces across the full spectrum of conflict as part of the joint force.

The Army mission is vital to the Nation because we are the service capable of defeating enemy ground forces and indefinitely seizing and controlling those things an adversary prizes most – its land, its resources and its population.
