POSITION SUMMARY
The Laundry Van Driver completes daily scheduled routes for all applicable Mankato area Rehabilitation Centers and Assisted Livings to collect and distribute clean and soiled laundry. This role operates both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and requires the ability to lift heavy objects. The Laundry Van Driver also delivers interdepartmental correspondence, supplies, and equipment as directed, and is responsible for maintaining the assigned vehicle in safe and efficient operating condition.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
LAUNDRY DISTRIBUTION AND TRANSPORT
- Load and unload clean laundry to designated facilities according to schedule
- Collect and transport soiled laundry from Laurels Peak Rehabilitation Center and other facilities
- Retrieve clean laundry from Laurels Peak laundry operations daily
- Complete assigned duties accurately and within established timeframes
- Pick up and deliver interdepartmental correspondence and supplies as directed
- Coordinate with facility staff to ensure proper distribution of equipment and supplies
VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AND REPORTING
- Maintain the van in clean, safe, and optimal operating condition
- Report maintenance or servicing needs to the Administrator promptly
- Monitor vehicle performance (fluids, noises, etc.) and report concerns as needed
- Maintain accurate gas and mileage logs
- Report accidents or incidents immediately to the Administrator
SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE
- Identify and eliminate safety hazards within the work environment
- Adhere to infection control and standard precaution policies
- Operate equipment using proper body mechanics
- Follow all Rehabilitation Center and Assisted Living safety guidelines
- Maintain a clean and safe work area at all
PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT AND COMMUNICATION
- Arrive on time and prepared to begin work; demonstrate organization and efficiency
- Follow attendance policies, including absenteeism, tardiness, and call-in procedures
- Adhere to dress code standards, avoiding items that pose safety risks
- Maintain professional grooming standards and appropriate identification (name badge)
- Limit personal phone use during working hours
- Interact courteously and cooperatively with residents, families, visitors, and staff
- Promote a professional image within the facility and community
- Maintain strict confidentiality of resident and healthcare information

EDUCATION AND POLICY ADHERENCE
- Participate in required in-service training and continuing education
- Attend facility-wide education on safety, infection control, and disease processes
- Participate in inspections and audits as assigned
- Engage in training related to quality improvement and customer satisfaction initiatives
- Maintain knowledge of Minnesota Department of Health regulations, including Resident Bill of Rights
- Adhere to and apply all organizational policies and procedures
Education and Experience
- Current Minnesota driver's license with an above-average driving record
- Demonstrated ability to operate a vehicle safely in all weather conditions
- Ability to read, write, and follow instructions with sufficient clarity
- Must meet employment eligibility requirements, including successful completion of a criminal background check in accordance with Minnesota Department of Human Services
