Laundry Department Position
Summary: Under general supervision of the Transport/Laundry Supervisor, performs a variety of duties relative to the processing of laundered items through the hospital's laundry.
Responsibilities:
- Participates in the daily activities and operations of the laundry department.
- Operates washer and dryer according to established department procedure.
- Performs laundry related duties to include pick up of soiled linen and delivery of clean linen to all units and clinical areas.
- Folds linen and operates the Scrub-Avail System.
- Stocks fresh linen on all linen carts.
- Picks up and delivers linen carts to departments.
- Organizes all clean linens inside and outside laundry department daily.
- Maintains and monitors par levels of linen for the hospital.
- Maintains the cleanliness of the laundry areas.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Basic Knowledge:
- High School graduate or equivalent level of education normally attained in courses at secondary school levels.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills. Read, write legibly and speak English.
Experience:
May require up to two months to become proficient in routines performed.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Healthcare environment such as acute care hospitals, physician office and/or ancillary healthcare enterprise.
- Any potential workplace hazards are minimized or nullified by adherence to established safety procedures and precautions including the use of safety equipment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Physical ability to perform required tasks and ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Pay Range:
$18.00-$25.82
