Lawn Doctor of East Puyallup‑Bonney Lake‑Maple Valley is hiring a full‑time Lawn Care Technician who wants to grow into a future Operations Manager role as the company expands. This role is ideal for a motivated, mechanically inclined person who enjoys working outdoors, delivering excellent service, and being part of a growth‑minded, community‑focused lawn care brand.
What you will do
- Perform lawn care services including fertilization, weed control, aeration, seeding, and insect treatments using professional, ride‑on and walk‑behind equipment according to label and company standards.
- Inspect lawns, identify weeds, insects, and disease issues, and document findings in route sheets or software for follow‑up recommendations.
- Communicate clearly with customers at the door or by phone about what was done, what you observed, and recommend next steps or add‑on services.
- Maintain, clean, and perform basic mechanical maintenance on trucks and application equipment; assist with shop work, loading, and end‑of‑day clean‑up.
- Safely handle, mix, and apply products in compliance with Washington State pesticide laws and Lawn Doctor safety procedures, including completing required logs.
Skills, licensing, and growth paths
What you bring:
- Valid Washington driver’s license and insurable driving record.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds, work on your feet, and handle outdoor work in all weather.
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn basic maintenance on sprayers, spreaders, and small engines.
- Strong customer‑service mindset, good communication skills, and the desire to represent a quality‑focused, community‑oriented local business.
Licensing:
- A Washington State pesticide license (Laws and Safety, Ornamental Weed, Ornamental Insect & Disease) is highly desired.
- Candidates without a license will be trained, with an expectation to obtain the license within 90 days of hire; company provides guidance and supports exam preparation.

Schedule and production expectations
- Standard schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with occasional Saturdays during peak spring and fall as needed.
- Routes start and end at our Buckley, WA shop, servicing nearby Pierce and King County area neighborhoods.
- Production expectations: roughly 20 stops per day in peak season, with performance goals based on time per job and quality standards.
Pay, bonuses, and benefits
- Hourly pay:
- $22/hr starting for entry‑level hires.
- $25/hr for fully qualified technicians (experience and/or license).
- Up to $28/hr for highly experienced, licensed technicians with strong production and service history.
- Bonuses: Commissions on upsells (aeration, seeding, insect services, additional programs) are considered as part of performance‑based bonuses.
