This position will support HealthOne Swedish Medical Center along with additional HCA hospitals in Denver, CO, within the Patient Access department. 

As a LEAD Associate, you will be a part of the LEAD (Leadership Engagement and Development) Program for early careerists. For more information, please visit our website: LEAD Program 

During your time in the LEAD Program for the Hospital Based Operations concentration, you will further enhance your management and technical skills to ensure you are knowledgeable in all aspects of the hospital patient access area’s business functions. You will work in key areas of the hospital operation, working side-by-side with CEO’s / COO’s, Directors, Managers and PTAC staff. In this role, the selected individual will be required to work a variety of shift schedules including nights, weekends, holidays etc. 

What will you do in this role:

  • Perform pre-registration and insurance verification
  • Verify all insurance and obtain pre-certification/authorization. 
  • Perform electronic insurance eligibility confirmation when applicable and document results.
  • Calculate patient cost share and be prepared to collect via phone or make payment arrangements.
  • Contact patient via phone to confirm or obtain missing demographic information, quote/collect patient cost share, and instruct patient on where to present at time of appointment.
  • Receive and record payments from patient services scheduled. 
  • Perform insurance verification and pre-certification follow up for prior day’s walk in admissions/registrations and account status changes by assigned facility.
  • Secure all signatures necessary for treatments, release of medical information, assignment of insurance benefits, and payment of services from legally responsible parties. Obtain copies of necessary identification and insurance cards.
  • Process and complete with accuracy patient charts according to paperwork flow needs and established productivity standards.
  • Assess trends and process improvement opportunities through the use of analytical metrics (including Tableau and Power BI) to meet business needs.
  • Complete projects and online trainings to strengthen Revenue Cycle Management knowledge and leadership skills.
  • Participate in departmental hiring processes and new implementations within department to support commitment to efficiency and workforce efforts.

Qualifications:

  • 1 year of related experience is preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree required (preferably in Public Health, Health Science, Healthcare Management, or Health Services Administration)
  • A Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Health Administration is helpful, but not required
  • Overall GPA must be a minimum of 3.0 for Bachelor’s degree and Graduate degree (if applicable)
  • Leadership experience required (unofficial and official roles in school are acceptable)
  • Lean six sigma certification preferred
