    Job Description

Lead Automotive Technician – All Makes & Models

Mountain Family Automotive | Evergreen, CO | Full-Time | Flagged Hour

You know you're a good technician. You should work somewhere that recognizes it.

If you're experienced, take pride in doing things right, and are tired of working in a shop where everything revolves around pushing more work through the door, we'd like to talk.

Mountain Family Automotive is a growing, independent, owner-operated repair shop in Evergreen, Colorado. We work on all makes and models, invest in quality equipment, and are building the kind of shop where talented technicians can make a great living without hating where they work.

We're not a chain. We're not a dealership. And we're not interested in selling customers things they don't need.

We built our reputation on trust, quality work, and actually solving people's problems.

That means when you diagnose a vehicle correctly, we're going to stand behind your diagnosis—not pressure you to pad the ticket. Our service advisors handle the customer communication so you can focus on fixing cars.

If that sounds like the kind of shop you've been looking for, keep reading.

    The Work

You won't be doing the same brake job fifteen times a week.

Our customers live and drive in the Colorado mountains. Their vehicles see snow, grades, towing, dirt roads, temperature swings, and plenty of hard miles.

    That creates interesting work.

You'll see everything from routine maintenance and mechanical repair to drivability, electrical diagnosis, suspension, 4WD/AWD systems, cooling systems, A/C, alignments, ADAS, and vehicles that have already been to another shop without getting fixed.

And because we're an all-makes shop, you'll work across:

    • Domestic: Ford, GM, Ram, Jeep and other light trucks/SUVs
    • Asian: Subaru, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai/Kia and others
    • European: BMW, Audi/VW, Mercedes, Volvo and more
    • Light diesel: Power Stroke, Duramax and Cummins occasionally
    • Hybrid & EV: As they come through the door, using proper high-voltage procedures

You don't need every platform memorized.

We'd much rather hire someone who knows how to figure something out.

If you can pull up the service information, read a wiring diagram, understand scan data, perform the right tests, and work your way toward the actual cause instead of firing the parts cannon, you'll fit in well here.

What It's Like to Work Here

We want our technicians to have what they need to succeed.

We use Tekmetric with digital vehicle inspections, professional diagnostic equipment, factory-level service information and scan-tool access.

We have a well-equipped four-bay facility with multiple lifts, alignment and ADAS equipment, tire equipment, TPMS capabilities, and both R-134a and R-1234yf A/C service equipment.

We buy quality parts because we'd rather fix something once.

And when you diagnose something, your service advisor's job is to communicate and sell the repair—not second-guess the technician who tested it.

If there's an area you want to get better in, we want to help you get there. Diagnostics, electrical, ADAS, hybrid/EV, factory training, ASE certifications—we believe investing in good technicians makes the entire shop better.

    Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone experienced enough to be trusted with a vehicle and mature enough to be trusted as part of a team.

    You test instead of guess.
You're comfortable using scan data, service information, wiring diagrams and a multimeter to find the actual problem.

    You care about your workmanship.
You'd rather spend another twenty minutes getting something right than see the same vehicle come back next week.

    You take ownership.
If something goes sideways, your first reaction is to figure out how we're going to solve it—not whose fault it was.

    You communicate.
You document concern, cause and correction well enough that the service advisor can clearly explain your findings to the customer.

    You're still learning.
Cars aren't getting simpler. We want someone who is curious enough to keep getting better.

    You're good to work with.
No shop drama. No throwing tools when a job fights back. No guarding information because you're afraid someone else might get better.

We're building a team that helps each other.

    What We're Not Looking For

We're probably not the right shop if you're looking for somewhere to hide in the back, guess at problems, blame the front counter, or rush work out the door.

    Technical ability matters here.

    Character matters just as much.

Our core values are Trust, Communication, Generosity, Humility, Problem-Solving, and Family.

    We take those seriously.

    What You'll Need

    • 5+ years of professional automotive repair experience preferred
    • Strong mechanical repair skills
    • Experience across multiple makes and models
    • Comfortable with domestic and Asian vehicles and willing to work on European platforms
    • Competency with professional scan tools and a digital multimeter
    • Your own professional hand tools and toolbox
    • Valid driver's license and acceptable MVR
    • Authorization to work in the U.S.
    • Ability to perform the physical requirements of professional automotive repair

Employment offer may be contingent upon background and MVR review.

    Big Pluses

ASE certifications, L1, OEM/factory training, Colorado emissions credentials, oscilloscope experience, light-diesel experience, ADAS calibration experience, hybrid/EV training, or experience mentoring other technicians are all valuable.

But don't count yourself out because you don't have every certification.

If you're a strong technician without the paperwork, apply anyway.

We'll pay for ASE testing and support continued training.

    This Could Be Your Shop

Maybe you're at a dealership and tired of the politics.

Maybe you're at a chain and tired of being pushed to sell.

Maybe you're at another independent shop and have simply hit the ceiling.

Or maybe you're not actively looking at all—you'd just move for the right opportunity.

That's the person we'd like to meet.

We're growing Mountain Family Automotive for the long term, and we're looking for technicians who want to grow with us.

If you want interesting work, quality equipment, a team you actually enjoy working with, and a shop where doing the right thing still matters, send us your résumé or come introduce yourself.
