Lead Aviation GSE Diesel Technician

Job Type: Full Time

Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM

Compensation: $43.00–$45.00 per hour

A day in the life

Start your shift airside, where aircraft turnarounds depend on the reliability of the equipment you maintain. You’ll review the repair log, prioritize motorized and non‑motorized ground support equipment (GSE), diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, execute advanced repairs, validate performance through testing, document your work, and keep parts usage up to date. Throughout the day, you’ll collaborate with teammates, uphold strict safety practices, and ensure PrimeFlight’s customer service and safety standards are continually met.

What you’ll tackle

• Fuel, top-off, and service equipment with water, oil, hydraulic fluid, and compressed air.
• Log equipment numbers, capture problem descriptions, and record actions taken.
• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, replace, repair, overhaul, or modify:
  • Engines and transmissions
  • Electrical systems
  • Brakes and braking systems
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems on mobile lift and conveyor systems
  • Bumpers and body work
  • Bag cart curtains and curtain rods
  • Towing hitches and towing bars
  • Undercarriages, wheels, and tires
  • Bushings, shafts, end places, springs, coils, armatures, push rods, valves, manifolds, tubing, hose, and wiring
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues per manufacturer guidance, industry standards, and safety regulations.
• Remove, test, repair, or replace components such as carburetors, governors, air and oil cleaners, ignition points, and auditory sensors.
• Measure and adjust tolerances for valves, bearings, cams, clutches, and drive shafts.
• Use test equipment and manuals to validate findings and repairs.
• Operate and test GSE to confirm performance.
• Complete all paperwork accurately and track parts usage.
• Follow all safety procedures and protocols for a safe work environment.
• Exemplify PrimeFlight customer service and safety standards.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

What you bring

• At least 18 years of age
• 6 years of verified experience
• Own professional tools and toolbox
• Consistent, reliable attendance
• Valid state‑issued driver’s license with acceptable driving record
• Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking)
• Comfort using iPads/tablets, computers, and mobile devices; able to access and interpret information in print and electronically
• Effective communicator with colleagues and clients, in person and electronically
• Willingness to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as airline operations require
• Ability to obtain applicable credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs, U.S. Postal as applicable)

Physical and environmental demands

• Lift up to 70 pounds
• Stand and walk for prolonged periods in indoor/outdoor environments
• Reach with arms and grasp with hands; push and pull
• Crawl and crouch, including within confined spaces
• Bend, stretch, squat, and kneel
• Climb and work at elevated heights
• Work around moderate to high noise, biohazards/chemicals, and outdoor elements
• Hear and respond to spoken instructions and audible alarms
• Perform repetitive motions of arms, wrists, hands, and/or fingers
• Vision: close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
