Lead Behavioral Health Emergency Services Clinician

Milwaukee Mobile Crisis Team

Hourly Pay Rate: $28.50 - $42.73

SIGN ON BONUS $7,500 &

Shift Differentials: $5/hr for weekends, $10/hr for 3rd shift hours

Job Summary: The Lead Behavioral Health Emergency Services Clinician (BHESC) provides education, coaching, and clinical supervision to members of mobile crisis teams (Milwaukee Mobile Crisis, Tranportation, and Crisis Assessment Response Teams) and provides afterhours coverage of lead duties. This posiiton will also function in the BHESC role to provide crisis intervention services to clients over the phone and face-to-face in the community.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Conduct psychiatric and psychosocial assessment of youth and adults with significant mental health and co-occurring needs. Regularly evaluate dangerousness to self and others (suicidal and homicidal ideation).
  • Intervene in and manage the acute crisis phase of mental illness in the community. De-escalate, stabilize, and resolve mental health crisis events. This may include remaining with the individual in their community setting until stabilized and linked with other services.
  • Effectively reduce any danger to self or others by either therapeutic interventions, arranging for immediate services, and connecting to services and/or supports in the community until the danger is eliminated and the person is engaged in therapeutic services.
  • Implement the plan of care by utilizing psychotherapeutic interventions, related to crisis assessment as well as the development of a crisis plan. Provide follow up to ensure plan of care is implemented and successful.
  • Consult and collaborate with the Community Access to Recover Services (CARS), Wraparound, Crisis Services, Access Clinics, DHHS service areas, community hospitals, law enforcement, and other mental health professionals. Provide community education regarding crisis management and mental health resources.
  • Educate, coach, and mentor team members and new hires. Provide DHS 34 clinical supervision of non-licensed staff including approving clinical documentation and leading clinical supervision meetings. Act as a team leader and be a resource for decision-making for mobile teams.
  • General instructing, scheduling, and reviewing the work of staff as directed by Crisis leadership. Assist Crisis managers in supervision of Milwaukee Mobile Crisis, Transportation, and Crisis Assessment Response Teams after hours. Provide off shift coverage of lead duties.
  • Assist with providing transportation as needed. Participate in community engagement and outreach. Contribute to redesign planning and implementation of new initiatives. Coordinate assignment schedules.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Authorized to work in the United States, able to establish Wisconsin residency within six (6) months of start date.
  • Valid United States Drivers License, able to obtain a Wisconsin Driver's License within six (6) months of hire.
  • Master's Degree or higher in Social Work or a related field.
  • At least three (3) years of crisis work experience.
  • Licensure in one of the following: LCSW, LPC, or LMFT.
  • Able to lift/carry and push/pull up to 25 lbs.
  • Willing and able to travel 50% of work time within the community.
  • Willing and able to work irregular, unpredictable, or particularly long hours due to frequent overtime, weekend work, or shift rotation.
  • Willing and able to have regular or frequent on-call availability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) or more years of leadership experience.
