It will also provide you with the opportunity to be involved in exciting projects with ourBridgeTeam and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges.WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Structural/Bridge Engineer for our Lansing or Detroit MI offices. This position is best suited for an engineer who is seeking an opportunity to work within a team-focused local office, with the resources and support of a large world-wide engineering firm. Tasks may include assisting with concept development, planning, design, and construction of load-bearing structures or structural elements, substantiates reports and documentation regarding material, installations, and construction specifications, and ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, structural soundness, and functionality. Career development, mentoring and employee satisfaction are key within our local office and the firm.Your ImpactLead design, plan development tasks and perform structural analysis and design with a concentration on Michigan highway structuresActively maintain project scope, design changes and project budget and schedule while assigned to projectsMentoring, training and development of staff and others performing similar workAbility to provide close coordination with others on the project as well as independent QC/QA reviewsWork with marketing staff to contribute to and/or lead technical proposals.Representing WSP at targeted professional society meetings, including presenting at conferences as appropriate and approvedOther duties as assignedWho You AreRequired QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Structural or Civil EngineeringP.E. registration in Michigan and ability to acquire in other states5 to 10 years of relevant post education experience in Structural Engineering with an emphasis on bridgesStrong technical skills and background in bridge designAccustomed to working in a team environment on challenging projects and leading design teams in delivering high quality projectsEffective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audienceHighly capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environmentAbility to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QCProficiency with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, , ANSYS, STADD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS), technology, math principles, physics, predictive models, spreadsheets, and toolsProven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policiesAbility to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweekOccasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirementsMaster's Degree in Engineering.40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.Preferred QualificationsFamiliarity with MDOT Design StandardsExperience serving as the lead engineer or with managing small to mid-size projectsBenefitsWSP provides a flexible and agile workplace model while meeting client needs.
