Job Description:
Lead business analysis for power market and trading initiatives within a utilities context, with a focus on ISO/RTO processes and the end-to-end trading lifecycle. Partner with trading, risk, scheduling, settlements, and IT teams to deliver scalable processes, systems enhancements, and regulatory-compliant solutions.
Map current-state processes and data flows (pre-trade, trade capture, market submissions, awards/dispatch, scheduling, risk/P&L, settlements, invoicing, reconciliation); define target-state operating models and controls.
Produce clear artifacts: business requirements documents, user stories/use cases, process maps, data dictionaries, interface contracts, and acceptance criteria.
Lead backlog refinement and roadmap planning; translate business needs into functional specifications for trading and adjacent systems (market gateways, scheduling tools, data platforms).
Support design of ISO market integrations (e.g., bid/offer submissions, telemetry inputs, meter and price data ingestion, settlements statements), including exception handling and validation rules.
Define and execute test strategies: test plans, test cases, UAT coordination, and sign-off; perform data validation (deal attributes, LMPs, charges, positions, P&L) and shadow settlements as needed.
10+ years of business analysis experience in energy utilities or energy trading, including substantial experience with ISO/RTO power markets (e.g., PJM, MISO, SPP, NYISO, ISO-NE, CAISO, ERCOT)
Deep understanding of the trading lifecycle: pre-trade analysis, trade capture, confirmations, market submissions (DAM/RTM), awards and dispatch, scheduling/nomination, risk/P&L/position, settlements/invoicing, and reconciliations.
