Lead Certified Veterinary Technician – Tender Care Animal Hospital

Tender Care Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Certified Veterinary Technician to join our team in Morton, Illinois!

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled technician who is ready to step into a leadership role while continuing to practice high-quality veterinary medicine in a collaborative, supportive environment.

As our Lead Veterinary Technician, you will play an essential role in both patient care and team development. You’ll help guide daily operations, support fellow technicians and assistants, and foster a positive, efficient workplace culture centered around exceptional medicine and compassionate care.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily workflow to support efficient patient care and hospital operations
  • Delegate tasks and provide support to Veterinary Technicians and Assistants
  • Mentor, train, and encourage team growth and development
  • Maintain medical standards, patient safety, and operational efficiency
  • Promote a positive, team-focused culture through communication and collaboration

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Anesthesia monitoring and team training
  • Dental prophylaxis and dental radiographs
  • Venipuncture, cystocentesis, and IV catheter placement
  • Laboratory processing and microscope evaluations
  • Hands-on patient nursing and treatment support

This role is ideal for a technician with strong emotional intelligence, excellent multitasking skills, and a passion for mentoring others while delivering exceptional patient care.

Schedule:

Full-time position with a 4/10 schedule. Availability needed Monday–Saturday, including 1–2 Saturdays per month.

Full-time Benefits & Compensation**:

  • Compensation: $21–$24/hour*
  • $2,000 bonus package
  • CE allowance up to $1,000 annually based on tenure

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of veterinary clinical experience
  • Current Veterinary Technician License in the state of Illinois
  • Strong technical and nursing skills
  • Leadership or mentorship experience preferred
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
