Job Summary:

Under the direction of a RN/LPN or practitioner performs basic patient care activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Obtain and document patient vitals.
  • Perform bedside testing.
  • Perform basic nursing procedures such as oral care, perineal/foley care, non-sterile soaks, or thermal applications.
  • Ensure cleanliness of office and examination rooms.
  • Clean and store equipment.
  • Maintain supply inventory and re-stock as required.
  • Perform basic clerical duties as needed.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of basic nursing and patient care.

AGE-RELATED COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position.

Information Management: Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.

Risk Management/Quality Management/Safety: Cooperates fully in all Risk Management, Quality Management, and Safety Activities and Investigations.

  • Education - High school diploma or equivalent; plus specialized, short-term training in basic patient care.
  • Work Experience - clinic setting preferred.
  • Training - Formal nursing assistant and/or medical assistant training required.
  • License/Certification - Certification in Nurse Assisting or Certification in Medical Assisting preferred.

ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood, or other body fluids.
