JOB DESCRIPTION
Everforth Apex Systems is searching for a skilled Azure Cloud Engineer professional with excellent consultative abilities to assume the position of a Lead Consultant within our Cloud & Infrastructure practice. This individual will serve in a strategic role at Apex, collaborating with internal and client project teams to offer direction in designing, implementing, and supporting our Cloud Architecture capability and service offerings. The consultant will also provide technical support for Apex sales, solution management, and account teams during the scoping of new Cloud & Infrastructure based opportunities.

- Collaborate internally with Apex Account Teams, Solution Leaders, Industry Leaders, Practice Leaders, and others to develop Apex Solutions Delivery Services business.
- Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility to acquire skills to meet business needs.
- Build strong client, industry, and internal relationships and represent Apex Systems as a leader within Industry and Professional events and communities. Develop and maintain strong internal and external customer relationships.
- Lead team members and direct reports to Lead the development, growth, and success of your team, developing professionals for the next stage of their careers.
- This role may be responsible for managing hybrid project teams consisting of Apex Contract Employees, Internal Apex employees, client employees and external vendors.
- Stay current on relevant technology trends and practices.

- Cloud Engineering & Platform Delivery
- Design, build, and support secure, scalable, highly available, and cost-effective solutions within Microsoft Azure.
- Lead Azure platform implementation, migration, modernization, and optimization initiatives.
- Develop and maintain Azure landing zones, networking, identity, governance, and security frameworks.
- Implement cloud infrastructure solutions leveraging Azure-native services and best practices.
- Partner with architects and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Ensure cloud solutions align with security, compliance, resiliency, and operational standards.
- Technical Leadership & Delivery
- Provide hands-on engineering leadership throughout design, build, deployment, and operational phases.
- Mentor engineers and support skill development across cloud, automation, and DevOps practices.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, security, application development, and data teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure and platform issues while driving root-cause analysis and resolution.
- Identify technical risks, dependencies, and mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Cloud Automation & DevOps
- Promote Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, and cloud-native engineering best practices.
- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines leveraging Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and related tooling.
- Automate provisioning, configuration management, monitoring, and operational processes.
- Implement platform engineering practices that improve developer experience, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Support containerization and orchestration solutions using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and related technologies.
- Operations, Security & Governance
- Implement Azure security controls, identity management, monitoring, and governance frameworks.
- Design solutions leveraging Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and Microsoft Sentinel.
- Support cost optimization, resource management, and FinOps initiatives across Azure environments.
- Ensure compliance with organizational, regulatory, and security requirements.
- Support hybrid-cloud and multi-cloud architectures where appropriate.
ON-SITE WORK EXPECTATIONS (US & CANADA)
As a consulting position, the work location for this role varies according to client needs. Accordingly, this is not a remote position. While some assignments may be performed largely remotely, other assignments require fully on-site work, hybrid work, and/or occasional travel.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- 8+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting cloud infrastructure solutions.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services and platform engineering.
- Strong experience with Azure networking, identity, compute, storage, and security services.
- Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions.
- Experience supporting enterprise cloud migration and modernization initiatives.
- Proven ability to lead technical teams and work across multiple stakeholders.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- HashiCorp Terraform Associate
- Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and container platforms.
- Experience implementing Zero Trust, Microsoft Entra ID, and cloud security best practices.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Sentinel, Defender for Cloud, and Azure Policy.
- Experience with platform engineering, FinOps, and cloud governance frameworks.
- Exposure to AI/ML services such as Azure AI Services, Azure OpenAI, Azure Machine Learning, AWS Bedrock, or Vertex AI.
- Prior consulting or client-facing experience supporting enterprise cloud transformation initiatives.
