JOB DESCRIPTION
Everforth Apex Systems is seeking a Lead Consultant, Databricks Data Analytics Engineer with deep, hands-on experience designing analytics-ready data models and semantic layers within Databricks Unity Catalog, and enabling AI-driven analytics using Databricks AI/BI Genie. In this role, you will partner closely with AI teams to enable natural language querying, with a focus on the modeling, transformation, and consumption layers of the Databricks platform.
RESPONSIBLITIES
- Own the design, development, and optimization of analytics-ready data models within Databricks, primarily in the Silver and Gold layers, with the ability to troubleshoot upstream in raw data when needed
- Design and implement enterprise-grade semantic models in Databricks Unity Catalog, enabling governed, reusable business metrics and definitions
- Build and manage semantic tables, metric views, and YAML-driven definitions optimized for BI and AI-driven analytics
- Partner with Data Product, BI, Platform, and AI teams to accelerate adoption of trusted, self-service analytics
- Collaborate closely with the AI team (including deployed AI consultants) to enable Databricks AI/BI Genie, supporting natural language querying and agent-style BI workflows
- Design datasets specifically for AI-driven and natural language use cases, ensuring models are enriched, well described, and optimized for LLM-based querying
- Leverage Databricks Genie and agents to support data discovery, lineage, and model optimization
- Ensure best practices for data governance, performance, scalability, and usability across analytics and AI consumption layers
- Contribute to standards, patterns, and documentation for analytics engineering and semantic modeling
- Demonstrate strong technical knowledge and implementation skills. Stay current on relevant technology trends and practices. Build trust and respect among internal and external stakeholders and demonstrate collaborative teamwork.
- Produce high quality deliverables, meet project deadlines, and take responsibility for engagement success. Demonstrate a passion for quality and process improvement.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- 6+ years of experience in analytics engineering with a strong focus on building analytics-ready data models and consumption layers.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Databricks in a production environment.
- Proven experience designing and building data models, transformations, and consumption layers within Databricks.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks AI/BI Genie, including natural language querying and AI-assisted analytics workflows (production experience strongly preferred).
- Deep experience with semantic modeling in Databricks Unity Catalog
- Strong SQL skills and experience with analytics-focused data modeling
- Strong Python experience for data transformation and analytics workflows
- Experience building datasets specifically for natural language and AI-driven analytics use cases, with an understanding of how model design impacts AI/LLM-based querying.
- Experience working with governed, enterprise-scale analytics environments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with clickstream or digital product analytics data
- Background in retail, consumer goods, or digital commerce
- Databricks certification (Certified Data Analyst, Data Engineer, or Generative AI Engineer)
- Experience with Adobe Analytics, including digital event data, behavioral metrics, and downstream analytics use cases.
- Experience building dashboards or semantic layers for Tableau.
