This individual will challenge current processes, equipment, procedures, and electrical/controls specifications in our delivery stations, in order to come up with creative and implementable process improvement initiatives with a focus on AB PLC/HMI and vision systems development. This Senior Systems Development Engineer will contribute to all aspects of an agile systems development life cycle including design, architecture, development, documentation, testing and operations. This position will be responsible for designing, managing and executing the next generation of delivery station processes, equipment, and operations. This is a unique opportunity to own new innovative projects that will advance the intelligence of our last mile business.Key job responsibilitiesSenior Controls Engineer responsible for designing and developing industrial control systems and PLC programs for Material Handling Equipment (MHE) across Amazon Logistics North America.Core Technical ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement complex control systems using Allen Bradley PLCs and CODESYSDevelop hardware/firmware interfaces and IoT solutionsCreate and maintain PLC/IPC/HMI software and vision systemsEstablish electrical and controls design standardsImplement system health monitoring and self-healing automationProject LeadershipManage multiple high-visibility projects simultaneouslyLead technical design reviews for control systems and simulationsCoordinate with global design teams and vendorsDrive process improvements and technical implementationReview and integrate new MHE technologiesTechnical ExpertiseIndustrial networks (Ethernet, safety over ethernet IP)Material handling control systemsIPCs and barcode scannersAdvanced technology applicationsConveyor hardware integrationMust demonstrate deep technical knowledge and ability to influence cross‑functional teams while maintaining effective communication with internal and external partners.A day in the lifeYour work is very hands‑on and multi‑disciplinary. You will be working closely with vendors, cross‑functional engineers, and project teams. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235,200/year in our highest geographic market.
