Assisted Living Facility in Beacon NY is looking for a mature, professional,experienced and reliable cook. The Lead Cook is responsible for the preparation, presentation, and delivery of high-quality meals for residents in an assisted living facility, following dietary guidelines and individual nutritional needs.This role also involves leading the kitchen team, managing food safety and sanitation practices, and ensuring compliance with health regulations. Deep familiarity with kitchen hygiene and sanitation practices. Manage ordering and inventory of food supplies.Knowledge of Kosher meals a plus. Excellent benefits and PTO.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus, dietary restrictions, and resident preferences.
  • Supervise kitchen staff during meal prep and service to ensure quality, portion control, and timeliness.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment in accordance with state and local health codes.
  • Ensure proper food storage, labeling, and rotation (FIFO method).
  • Assist with menu planning, ordering, and inventory management.
  • Train and mentor kitchen team members; assist with scheduling and performance feedback.
  • Communicate with nursing and dietary staff about residents' special dietary needs and changes.
  • Monitor food costs and minimize waste.
  • Participate in inspections and ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Respond to resident feedback and adjust menus or preparation methods accordingly.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; culinary training preferred.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of cooking experience in a healthcare or senior living environment.
  • Previous supervisory or lead cook experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of special diets (e.g., low-sodium, diabetic, mechanically altered) and nutrition in elderly care.
  • ServSafe or state food handler certification required.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Tolerate exposure to heat, cold, and cleaning chemicals.
