Tigg's Canteen Services is looking for a Permanent Full-Time Lead Cook to join our team at Marquette County Jail in Marquette, MI.

As a Lead Cook, you will play an important role in the daily kitchen operation. You will help oversee kitchen activities, assist with meal preparation, and provide direction and instruction to inmates working in the kitchen.

What You'll Be Doing

In this position, you will be responsible for helping maintain an organized and productive kitchen environment. Your duties will include:

• Leading, directing, and assisting inmates working within the kitchen
• Leading and assisting with daily meal preparation
• Food preparation, baking, and cooking
• Assisting with kitchen clean-up and maintaining a clean work area
• Reading and following company recipes and established procedures
• Providing instruction and direction as needed
• Working effectively within a structured correctional environment

What We're Looking For

Qualified candidates should have:

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• The ability to work well in a structured correctional environment
• The ability to read and follow company recipes
• The ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• A willingness to work as part of a team
• Flexibility to work weekends and holidays
• Flexibility to work varying days and hours between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM
• The ability to obtain clearance approval to enter the facility

Previous food service or kitchen experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person!
