Goodwill Southern California is seeking a Lead Custodian to support custodial operations across assigned facilities. This hands-on role works alongside the custodial team while coordinating daily work assignments, supporting quality standards, and helping ensure safe, clean, and well-maintained facilities — all while advancing our mission of Transforming Lives Through the Power of Work.
What You’ll Do:
• Perform routine and periodic custodial services, including cleaning, sanitation, floor and carpet care, restroom cleaning, trash removal, window cleaning, and other assigned services.
• Coordinate daily custodial assignments, work areas, schedules, and coverage based on established requirements.
• Work alongside custodial employees and provide guidance on cleaning standards, equipment, chemicals, safety practices, and site requirements.
• Conduct routine quality-control inspections and document results using company-provided systems and equipment.
• Identify service issues and communicate operational, staffing, supply, equipment, and quality concerns to the Project Manager.
• Assist with custodial orientation and on-the-job training.
• Support compliance with safety procedures, PPE requirements, contract requirements, and company standards.
• Maintain professional relationships with employees, customers, clients, government personnel, and other stakeholders.
• Travel to assigned locations as needed, up to 50% of the time.
What You Bring:
• Previous custodial or janitorial experience, with the ability to perform a full range of cleaning and facility-maintenance services.
• Experience serving as a lead, coordinating work, or providing on-the-job guidance preferred.
• Knowledge of custodial equipment, chemicals, cleaning procedures, and workplace safety practices.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and alongside a team in a fast-paced service environment.
• Ability to monitor work quality and address day-to-day service needs.
• Valid driver’s license, required auto insurance, and an acceptable driving record.
This is a Lead Role:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. The Lead Custodian coordinates daily work and provides work-related guidance while working alongside the custodial team. Formal performance management, scheduling, discipline, and other supervisory responsibilities remain with management.
