The Job

The Project and Facilities Management Department is recruiting for Lead Custodians who oversee the performance of custodial duties, while maintaining buildings and surroundings in a clean, orderly, and safe condition. Positions in this class are characterized by their responsibility to provide lead direction to Custodians and/or to contract service providers.

Responsibilities include assigning, inspecting work, and assisting with site inspections; completing and submitting various reports; assisting in scheduling and work performance reviews; ordering supplies; cleaning restrooms, offices, fixtures, and work areas; cleaning, sweeping, mopping vacuuming, stripping, waxing, and buffing floors; dusting, polishing, and cleaning furniture, windows, blinds, and mirrors; and using appropriate cleaning chemicals, solutions, and equipment to perform these and other custodial tasks.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Pre-Employment Process: Incumbents must pass a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting, work history verification, as well as a job-related physical exam and drug screening.

Physical: This job requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds, and the ability to move 80-pound containers.

Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required and employees will be required to make provisions for such transportation.

Schedule: Some positions require a work schedule of 3:00 AM to 1:30 PM or 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is unable to consider to candidates who require Visa Sponsorship at this time or in the future. Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment.

Minimum Requirements

Experience: Eighteen (18) months of full-time professional experience with the primary responsibility of performing qualified custodial services, including the use of machines to strip, wax, and buff floors at a school, hospital, office building, detention facility and/or large workshop environment.
