Lead Dental Assistant - Redwood Dental of Madison Heights

As our Lead Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our doctors, leading the clinical team, and ensuring exceptional patient care while maintaining efficient daily operations.
Schedule
- Monday: 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM
- Tuesday: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Wednesday: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- Thursday: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- Friday: 6:30 AM – 1:00 PM
- Saturday: 7:30 AM – 2:00 PM (Rotating Saturdays off)

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and supervise the daily workflow of the dental assisting team.
- Mentor, train, and onboard new dental assistants.
- Coach team members to promote clinical excellence, accountability, and professional growth.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and patient-focused work environment.
- Assist with scheduling and coordinating clinical staff coverage to ensure efficient operations.
Patient Care & Clinical Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and create a comfortable, positive experience.
- Prepare treatment rooms and assist doctors with four-handed dentistry.
- Take diagnostic radiographs and intraoral images in accordance with state regulations.
- Review and update patient medical histories.
- Educate patients on treatment plans, post-operative instructions, and oral hygiene.
- Maintain accurate and thorough clinical documentation.
- Assist with:
- General and restorative dentistry
- Crown and bridge procedures
- Temporary crown fabrication
- Endodontic procedures
- Oral surgery and extractions
- Dental implant procedures
- Fixed and removable prosthodontics
- Digital radiography and panoramic imaging
- Intraoral scanning
- Traditional and digital impressions
Clinical Operations
- Oversee sterilization and instrument processing while ensuring compliance with CDC, OSHA, and infection control standards.
- Ensure operatories are clean, organized, fully stocked, and ready for patient care.
- Track laboratory cases and coordinate timely delivery for scheduled appointments.
- Coordinate equipment maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime.
- Help maintain an efficient clinical workflow throughout the day.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of dental assisting experience
- Previous leadership or Lead Dental Assistant experience preferred
- Dental Assisting Certification preferred
- Current Michigan X-ray Certification required
- Strong knowledge of general dentistry, infection control, sterilization procedures, and OSHA/CDC guidelines
- Experience with Dentrix preferred
- Experience with digital dentistry and intraoral scanning is a plus
