Description

Overview:

VTG is looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer on a 200+ FTE technical development program responsible for delivering modern Identity Access Credential Management (ICAM) solutions. As a DevOps Engineer on this program, you will have the opportunity to build strong systems and software utilizing cloud capabilities to support a complex program. Based in DevOps framework, you will participate in and/or direct major deliverables throughout all aspects of the software development lifecycle including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding and unit testing. This role requires supporting an on-call rotation to ensure mission critical services remain operational 24/7/365. Rotation is typically to be on-call 1 full calendar week every 2 months.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using industry-standard DevOps tools.
  • Develop, maintain, and support automated build, deployment, and release processes.
  • Administer and support Linux-based environments.
  • Utilize DevOps tools including Jenkins, GitHub, Rundeck, and Nexus to support software development and deployment activities.
  • Support the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) using DevOps best practices.
  • Utilize software testing and performance tools, including JUnit, to support application quality.
  • Develop scripts and automate infrastructure using AWS services including CloudFormation, EC2, S3, RDS, and VPC.
  • Build, deploy, and manage containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, and Amazon ECS.
  • Manage and optimize container orchestration, deployment, and scaling within production environments.
  • Administer and maintain Nexus repositories.
  • Utilize version control and issue tracking systems to support software development activities.
  • Work within Agile development teams using Jira and Confluence.
  • Implement container registry and container security best practices.
  • Collaborate with development, operations, and project teams to support successful software delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
  • Bachelor's degree and 11–15 years of relevant experience.
  • Expert-level experience with the Linux operating system.
  • Expert-level experience using Jenkins, GitHub, and Rundeck.
  • Expert knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and DevOps practices.
  • Experience utilizing software testing and performance tools such as JUnit.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
  • Experience scripting and working with AWS services including CloudFormation, EC2, S3, RDS, and VPC.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, and Amazon ECS.
  • Experience administering Nexus repositories.
  • Experience using version control systems.
  • Experience using issue and problem tracking systems.
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence.
  • Proficiency building, managing, and optimizing containerized applications using CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of container registries and container security best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
