C&S Waste Solutions of Lassen County, LLC , a Waste Connections company, is looking for a Lead Diesel Mechanic with a proven safety track record to join our team in Susanville, CA !


Schedule is Monday-Friday working 8-10 hour shifts . Starting pay for this position is $40 - $43 per hour, depending on experience.


Responsibilities:


+ PM Service (A, B, C, D, H services): Performing routine inspections at 21 day or 450 hour intervals.

+ Fluid & Filter Changes: Replacing engine oil, air filters, and fuel filters.

+ DOT Inspections: Performing and documenting annual DOT safety inspections.

+ Lubrication & Adjustments: Greasing components and adjusting brakes.

+ Repairs include but are not limited to, routine maintenance and repairing engines chassis and body components, hydraulic cylinders, brake systems, suspension systems, cooling systems, wheels and tires.

+ Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.

+ Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.

+ Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.

+ Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.

+ Performs maintenance related work as required.

+ Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.

+ Performs required safety protocols while working on vehicles.

+ Ability to effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks.

+ Safety-oriented approach to all tasks.

+ Work environment may be indoors in a shop, or outdoors to repair trucks on the road. Usually well-lighted and ventilated. Sometimes necessary to work in awkward or tight positions and to handle greasy or dirty tools. These factors require following basic safety precautions.


The ideal candidate will possess:


+ Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience in heavy truck repairs and maintenance

+ Ability to work safely

+ Outstanding communication skills, and building good team relationships

+ Attention to detail

+ Flexibility

+ Proficiency in inspecting brake systems (air brakes), steering, suspension, tires, electrical systems, and emissions (DPF/SCR).

+ Ability to lift, carry, and pull up to 75+ pounds, with frequent kneeling, bending, and working in extreme temperatures.

+ Basic understanding of ECM downloading and interpreting trouble codes.

+ Familiarity with digital maintenance platforms for tracking service records.

+ Knowledge of Hydraulics repair is required

+ Must provide own personal tools. Welding/fabrication experience is a huge plus!
