POSITION SUMMARY

The Lead Dietary Aide assists with food preparation, food service, and general duties of the dietary department. In addition, the Lead Dietary Aide supports the Dining Services manager with the overall dining experience and staffing and training of Dietary Aides.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists in the preparation of food and is responsible for serving meals, snacks, and beverages using portion control and applicable sanitation practices.
  2. Responsible for delivering meals to resident rooms or tables and setting up meal trays in accordance with dietary orders and tray cards. Ensures residents are served proper diet and food preferences in a timely manner.
  3. Keeps the kitchen, dietary equipment, and dining room clean and sanitary at all times, including work areas and floors.
  4. Cleans utensils, dishes, and pots and pans by operating the dishwasher or proper handwashing processes. Ensures dishwasher is working properly and at the appropriate temperature. Records temperature of dishwasher. Properly stores pots, dishes, and utensils.
  5. Ensures proper storage, rotation, preparation, and labeling of food in accordance with State and local guidelines and Prestige policy. Discards outdated food.
  6. Partners with dietary staff to ensure equipment is working properly and at the appropriate temperature. Records temperature of equipment throughout shift as needed. Reports faulty equipment immediately.
  7. Follows facility fire safety, infection control, and hazardous chemical practices and promptly reports any unsafe conditions.
  8. Greets residents, visitors, and staff courteously and in a manner that respects dignity, meets confidentiality standards, and promotes resident and staff rights.
  9. Resets the dining room for the next meal and ensures supplies are available for upcoming meals.
  10. Assists in storing incoming food and supplies as assigned.
  11. Attends and participates in training, in-services, and staff meetings.
  12. Partners with leadership team in planning and preparing for special meals, events, and parties as needed.
  13. Assists with the interviewing, scheduling, onboarding, and development of Dietary Aides.
  14. Collaborates with DSM to create and maintain Dietary Aide schedule that accommodates requested days off, vacations and sick time while maintaining appropriate staffing levels to properly serve the needs of the residents.
  15. Provides on-call support for team member questions and staffing coordination.
  16. Ensures dining experience of residents meets Prestige best practices. Escalates resident feedback or concerns to DSM or leadership team timely and appropriately.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Must have Food Handler Permit as required by the State. Dining experience and leadership or mentorship experience preferred.


EDUCATION

Some High School education preferred.
