Overview Leidos is seeking a Lead Distribution Engineer in the Minneapolis, MN area who is passionate about electric utility design engineering. We're looking for someone dedicated to ensuring that every project, no matter how simple or complex, is of exceptional quality. You'll work directly with clients to ensure Leidos' reputation for high-quality work is maintained. This role offers exposure to NESC, Structural Pole Modeling, Electrical Power Calculations, GIS design training, Field Data Collection, and Client Design Standards.This position is hybrid in nature, with 3 days/week in office and 2 days/week remote.Responsibilities Lead the development of electrical distribution work packages; perform engineering design and analysis; may work on programmatic/capital/reliability design (e.g., 3rd party attachment/Make Ready, overloaded transformers, reconductor, voltage conversion, DG, FLISR, underground, etc. designs)Be responsible for QAQC tasks on your assigned team; participate in quality reviews of designs prior to submittalsReview engineering design packages with clients; review and organize existing program workPerform scope analysis and maintain schedule adherence to support client prioritiesInteract directly with clients on a frequent, as-needed basisProvide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure standards are metCoordinate conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements; assist with work permit development, easements, and ROW applicationsBe comfortable in both field and office settings; may require customer-site visits to collect field dataFuture role in hiring and team developmentQualifications 4+ years of relevant experience in electric distribution projects in a consulting environment or at an electric utilityBachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) from ABET-accredited institution; Additional relevant experience can be considered in lieu of engineering degreeExperience with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC)Experience with engineering design quality controlFamiliarity with Pole Loading software (O-Calc, Pole Foreman, etc) and distribution pole analysisAbility to use a personal vehicle; some travel may be anticipated (travel reimbursed)Willingness to perform both field and office work; ability to work outdoors; may require customer-site visitsValid U.S. driver\'s licensePreferred Qualifications EIT CertificationQAQC experienceExperience estimating costs, developing a BOM, calculating CIACCustomer interaction experienceProficiency with STORMS software and GISLeadership experienceAt Leidos, we pride ourselves on being a trusted and technology-focused solutions provider.
