    Lead DVM – Portland, OR

     

    A veterinary hospital is seeking a Lead Veterinarian / Medical Director (DVM) to join and guide its growing team. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced veterinarian who is passionate about high-quality medicine, mentorship, and building a positive, collaborative culture. This role combines clinical excellence with leadership responsibilities, allowing you to shape medical standards, support team development, and contribute to the overall success of the practice.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide high-quality medical care, including diagnostics, treatment, and surgery
    • Lead and mentor veterinarians and support staff
    • Establish and uphold medical protocols, standards, and best practices
    • Partner with hospital leadership on operational and strategic initiatives
    • Foster a positive, team-oriented culture that encourages collaboration and learning
    • Support client communication and ensure exceptional patient care
    • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with regulations
     

    Qualifications

    • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree from an accredited institution
    • Active veterinary license in good standing (or eligibility)
    • Several years of clinical experience (leadership experience preferred)
    • Strong clinical, surgical, and diagnostic skills
    • Proven leadership, mentoring, and team-building abilities
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Commitment to high-quality, compassionate care
