Responsibilities:
Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to support nuclear plant modification and engineering projects at the Calvert Cliffs Clean Energy Center. The successful candidate will provide senior-level electrical engineering direction, coordinate multidisciplinary activities, and serve as a key technical interface among Sargent & Lundy, Constellation, CCCEC station personnel, vendors, and project stakeholders.
The role will support electrical system evaluations, plant modifications, Engineering Change packages, calculations, studies, drawings, specifications, design reviews, field walkdowns, and implementation support. The engineer will also contribute to project execution by managing assigned scope, budget, schedule, deliverables, risks, and technical interfaces.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead or support electrical engineering activities for nuclear plant modifications and related projects at CCCEC.
- Develop and review electrical design inputs, calculations, evaluations, studies, reports, drawings, specifications, and implementation documentation.
- Support engineering for electrical systems and equipment, including power distribution, motors, transformers, switchgear, protective devices, cable and raceway interfaces, generator-related equipment, and electrical system interfaces, as assigned.
- Perform or support electrical capacity, loading, ratings, coordination, short-circuit, voltage-drop, protection, or related evaluations as required by project scope.
Prepare and review Engineering Change packages and related conceptual, detailed, and implementation-phase deliverables. - Evaluate electrical system performance, equipment impacts, operating conditions, design requirements, and interfaces associated with plant modifications and power uprate activities.
- Review vendor drawings, calculations, specifications, equipment data, wiring information, and other technical submittals; identify missing information and follow up on required vendor inputs.
- Participate in project kickoff meetings, technical focus meetings, design reviews, milestone reviews, field walkdowns, constructability reviews, comment-resolution meetings, and client coordination meetings.
- Coordinate electrical interfaces with mechanical, I&C, structural, civil, fire protection, licensing, procurement, construction, operations, and other disciplines.
- Support installation, testing, startup, outage, and implementation activities, including development or review of implementation and testing documentation.
- Serve as a technical liaison with Constellation and CCCEC personnel and communicate technical issues, assumptions, decisions, risks, and required actions clearly and promptly.
- Develop electrical input to multidisciplinary budgets, schedules, work plans, proposals, and resource plans.
- Monitor assigned scope, budget, schedule, progress, and deliverable status; identify trends early and elevate risks before commitments are affected.
- Support project controls and change management, including evaluation of scope growth, schedule impacts, budget impacts, and changes to technical requirements.
- Ensure work is performed in accordance with applicable Sargent & Lundy procedures, client procedures, quality requirements, codes, standards, and project instructions.
- Support client presentations, proposal development, technical discussions, and identification of follow-on engineering opportunities.

Essential skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a closely related engineering discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 10 or more years of progressively responsible electrical engineering and project experience.
Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating electrical engineering work for complex industrial, utility, power-generation, or nuclear projects. - Experience developing or reviewing electrical calculations, evaluations, drawings, specifications, reports, and technical documentation.
- Experience coordinating technical work across multiple disciplines and managing interfaces among engineering, design, procurement, vendors, construction, operations, and client organizations.
- Experience with project planning, task budgeting, schedule development or monitoring, progress reporting, change management, and risk identification.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate technical information clearly to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound engineering judgment, and prioritize competing technical and project requirements.
- Ability to work onsite at CCCEC three days per weekand remotely two days per week under the schedule identified above.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required site access, training, and qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration or the ability to obtain registration. Registration may be required for assigned work in accordance with applicable requirements.
- Experience supporting operating nuclear power plants, nuclear plant modifications, engineering changes, power uprates, reliability projects, outage work, or licensing-related engineering.
- Familiarity with Constellation or utility engineering processes, including design change, configuration management, document control, quality assurance, and station work-control practices.
- Experience with electrical distribution systems, motors, transformers, switchgear, breakers, protective relaying, cable and raceway systems, generator systems, or electrical capacity and ratings evaluations.
- Experience with electrical design interfaces for equipment replacement, power uprates, vendor-furnished equipment, or plant modifications.
- Experience coordinating vendor engineering, procurement specifications, bid evaluations, vendor document reviews, and supplier technical questions.
- Familiarity with applicable nuclear industry codes, standards, regulatory requirements, and quality-assurance practices.
- Experience with field walkdowns, constructability reviews, installation support, testing, startup, or commissioning activities.
- Proficiency with common engineering, project-controls, document-management, and Microsoft Office tools.
