Role Summary

The Lead Engineer, AI Agent Platform will play a critical role in designing, building, and scaling an enterprise AI platform that enables the development and deployment of intelligent agents across the organization. This position combines hands-on engineering expertise with platform leadership, helping define the standards, infrastructure, governance, and evaluation frameworks that support AI agents in production environments.

The ideal candidate will have deep experience building and scaling agent platforms, implementing evaluation and observability frameworks, and supporting multi-model AI environments. This individual will partner closely with a small core engineering team and external partners to deliver secure, reliable, and enterprise-ready AI solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale an enterprise AI agent platform that enables rapid development and deployment of intelligent agents

• Develop AI agents, agentic workflows, RAG architectures, and tool integrations that solve complex business problems

• Build platform capabilities that support agent orchestration, runtime management, governance, and lifecycle management

• Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines for agent development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and rollback processes

• Define and implement agent evaluation frameworks, testing strategies, benchmarking pipelines, and simulation-based validation

• Develop observability solutions including logging, tracing, monitoring, and performance measurement for AI systems

• Ensure platform security through authentication, authorization, data governance, and compliance best practices

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to drive platform adoption and engineering excellence

Key Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with a strong background in platform engineering and distributed systems

• Proven experience building, deploying, and scaling AI agents on enterprise agent platforms, preferably within Google Gemini or Vertex AI ecosystems

• Deep understanding of agent platform architecture, including frameworks that generate, manage, and scale agents beyond individual application development

• Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform, including Vertex AI, GKE, BigQuery, APIs, and cloud-native architectures

• Hands-on expertise with LLMs, embeddings, RAG architectures, agentic workflows, and multi-model AI environments including Gemini, OpenAI, and open-source models

• Extensive experience with agent evaluation frameworks, observability tooling, benchmarking, regression testing, simulation-based validation, and AI quality assurance

• Strong knowledge of secure software design, API-first architectures, microservices, CI/CD automation, and operational excellence

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup-like environment with strong communication skills, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AI governance, responsible AI practices, and enterprise AI standards

• Familiarity with LangChain, LangGraph, or similar agent orchestration frameworks

• Experience supporting business functions such as merchandising, digital commerce, marketing, store operations, or related enterprise domains

• Prior experience building shared developer platforms or enterprise-scale AI infrastructure
