Join Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) as a Lead Fault Analysis Engineer and help shape the future of power system event analysis. The Synchrowave software team builds advanced tools that engineers around the world rely on to understand, diagnose, and improve power system performance.

As a Lead Fault Analysis Engineer, you will bring deep power system expertise directly into the software development process. You'll collaborate with developers, engineers, and UX designers to develop new products that automate event analysis, locate faults and prevent outages. Your work will play a key role in ensuring that Synchrowave products deliver accurate, reliable, and intuitive analyses to engineers who depend on SEL solutions every day.

If you're passionate about applying your power system knowledge to create high-impact software tools that transform the way engineers analyze faults, we would be excited to welcome you to the Synchrowave team.

In this role, a typical day might include:

• Leading the specification, design, implementation and testing of fault analysis tools for electric power systems. • Analyzing power system fault and power quality data collected from protective relays, DFRs, meters, and other sensors. • Teaching customers how to implement, deploy and use fault analysis tools. • Collaborating with engineers around the world to share knowledge, best practices and gather feedback. • Authoring and reviewing white papers, application guides, industry journals, and technical papers and presenting at conferences & seminars.

This role might be for you if you:

• Desire learning how the power system responds to system faults and how protective relays detect that. • Desire involvement in the cutting-edge technology of protective relaying. • Have a passion for teaching others. • Enjoy applying creativity to engineering solutions every day. • Enjoy every day bringing new challenges versus every day being predictable.

We are looking for someone with the following qualifications and abilities:

• A bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. • 6+ years of experience with power system protection, fault analysis and fault location. • Work experience and knowledge of utility and/or industrial power systems with an emphasis on protection, fault analysis and power quality analysis. • Experience working with Synchrowave software and SEL products. • Strong communication, writing and presentation skills. • Excellent problem-solving skills and a desire to learn new technologies. • The ability to work both independently and in a team environment. • The ability to travel 20%. • Competitive pay. • Superior benefits. • Inspiring work. • People are at the core of our company and we hire employee-owners. • We welcome you to learn more about how we support employees. • We're 100% employee owned. • Retirement benefits include an employer-funded stock ownership plan (ESOP) and personal 401(k) options. • We offer top-tier medical, prescription, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance. • We recognize the importance of a healthy life balance and offer: • 10 paid holidays • Annual vacation accrual starting at 12 days • 9 paid sick days • Paid family and medical leave that covers 90% of your pay • We foster growth and development of our employees through avenues such as STEM courses, apprenticeships, tuition assistance, and engineering development programs. • Ask our team about other benefits including wellness, fertility, adoption, and flexible spending benefits
