What you will have an opportunity to do:

The Lead Engineer - Overnight Shift is a senior-level Engineering professional responsible for overseeing daily engineering and maintenance operations within the hotel, ensuring all building systems, guest rooms, and public areas are maintained at the highest standards of safety, functionality, and guest satisfaction. This role provides direct leadership to the engineering team including and serves as a hands-on technical expert while partnering closely with the Facilities and Maintenance Managers to support operational goals.

All duties are performed in accordance with department and Sunseeker Resort policies, practices and procedures. 

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead, coach, and supervise overnight Engineer I, II, and III, and Paint Tech team members, ensuring work is completed efficiently and to standard
  • Delegate daily tasks, prioritize work orders, and monitor progress to ensure timely completion
  • Train team members on equipment, safety procedures, and preventative maintenance standards
  • Perform and oversee routine, preventive, and emergency maintenance for guest rooms, public spaces, back-of-house areas, and hotel infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot and repair building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal codes and safety regulations
  • Respond promptly to guest and operational maintenance issues to minimize service disruption
  • Support and execute the hotel’s preventive maintenance program to reduce downtime and extend asset life
  • Maintain accurate records of work orders, inspections, and repairs
  • Assist with inventory control of tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies
  • Work closely with Facilities and Maintenance Managers and Facilities Coordinator to support departmental goals, capital projects, and property improvements
  • Serve as an on-duty leader for engineering-related issues when management is unavailable
  • Expert knowledge of hand power tools and standard engineering equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What are we looking for?

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of hotel, resort, or commercial building engineering experience
  • Familiarity with maintenance management systems (HotSOS)
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building maintenance
  • Trade certifications or licenses preferred (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.)
  • Prior experience in a full-service or luxury hotel environment preferred

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to function well under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet established deadlines
  • Must possess mature personal discretion and sound judgment
  • Strong leadership abilities, sound judgment, superior problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and project management skills, with particular attention to quality and detail
  • Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
