We are seeking an Environmental Coordinator to support a major electric transmission construction project in Syracuse, NY. This field-based role will oversee environmental compliance and work closely with construction teams, inspectors, contractors, and project management.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct environmental inspections across active construction areas and restoration zones.
• Ensure compliance with permits, EM&CP requirements, SWPPP/SPDES, and approved project plans.
• Monitor wetlands, waterbodies, erosion and sediment controls, dewatering, and other sensitive activities.
• Identify compliance issues and coordinate corrective actions with construction teams.
• Support Article VII compliance, environmental reporting, regulatory inspections, and documentation.
• Coordinate restoration, BMP implementation, spill response, and environmental requirements with field teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of environmental compliance experience within utility, transmission, pipeline, or infrastructure construction.
• Strong knowledge of SWPPP, stormwater, erosion and sediment control, wetlands, and environmental BMPs.
• Experience interpreting environmental permits, plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong field coordination, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working primarily in an active construction environment and traveling throughout the project area.

Preferred Experience

• Electric transmission construction experience in New York.
• Knowledge of New York Public Service Law Article VII and EM&CP requirements.
• Familiarity with NYS DPS and NYSDEC requirements.
• Experience with SPDES, SWPPP, erosion control, wetlands, dewatering, and restoration.
