DS Machine is looking for an experienced metal fabrication professional who enjoys both operating cutting equipment and leading people.
This is not a desk-management position. Approximately 70–80% of your time will be spent working alongside the team operating laser, plasma, torch, and other cutting equipment while coordinating daily workflow, maintaining quality, and helping the department succeed.

What You'll Do
Hands-On Production
- Operate laser, punch press, and other cutting equipment.
- Read blueprints and determine the most efficient cutting methods.
- Set up jobs, verify material requirements, and maintain quality standards.
- Troubleshoot equipment and production issues.
- Jump in wherever needed to keep production moving.
Lead the Team
- Coordinate daily workflow and priorities with the Production Manager.
- Assign work and balance workloads.
- Train and coach team members.
- Ensure quality standards are consistently met.
- Communicate production issues between departments.
- Promote safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor inventory of sheet steel and long products.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance.
What We're Looking For
Required:
- 5+ years in metal fabrication or manufacturing
- Experience operating laser, plasma, oxy-fuel, or CNC cutting equipment
- Ability to read fabrication drawings and blueprints
- Strong understanding of material handling and production flow
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced fabrication environment
Preferred:
- Previous experience leading or mentoring others
- Experience scheduling work or coordinating production
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
