Job Position: Lead Fire Alarm Technician

Location: Round Rock, TX 78664

Pay Rate: $30.00 $40.00 per hour (Based on Experience)
Position Overview
TradeSTAR is seeking a highly skilled Lead Fire Alarm Technician to lead the installation, programming, commissioning, inspection support, and troubleshooting of commercial fire alarm systems. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with addressable fire alarm systems, strong leadership abilities, and a thorough understanding of NFPA codes and life safety standards.


Responsibilities
Lead installation, retrofit, expansion, and commissioning of commercial fire alarm systems.
Program, configure, and troubleshoot addressable fire alarm control panels and peripheral devices.
Install and terminate initiating devices, notification appliances, power supplies, and communication circuits.
Perform system startup, functional testing, acceptance testing, and final commissioning.
Read and interpret electrical drawings, riser diagrams, sequence of operations, and shop drawings.
Diagnose and repair wiring faults, ground faults, communication issues, and device failures.
Verify proper operation of NACs, SLC loops, relays, monitoring equipment, and emergency control interfaces.
Coordinate with AHJs, inspectors, project managers, electricians, and general contractors during inspections and project completion.
Maintain accurate as-built documentation, programming backups, and test reports.
Train and mentor junior technicians while ensuring quality workmanship and code compliance.
Ensure all work complies with NFPA 70, NFPA 72, local building codes, and manufacturer specifications.


Required Qualifications
5+ years of commercial fire alarm installation and service experience.
Experience leading fire alarm installation crews.
Strong knowledge of addressable and conventional fire alarm systems.
Proficiency programming and troubleshooting systems such as Notifier, Silent Knight, Edwards, Simplex, Siemens, Fire-Lite, Potter, or Bosch.
Ability to interpret construction drawings, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
Experience with fire alarm inspections, commissioning, and acceptance testing.
Knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems and life safety requirements.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work on active construction sites.


Preferred Qualifications
NICET Fire Alarm Systems Certification (Level II or higher).
Texas Fire Alarm License (FAL).
Manufacturer certifications on major fire alarm platforms.
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
Experience integrating fire alarm systems with mass notification, smoke control, and building automation systems.
